Background Remover Documentation
Everything you need to install, set up and use the Background Remover plugin.
What does this plugin do?
Background Remover lets you remove the background from images directly inside WordPress, no external tools, no Photoshop, no switching between apps.
It works particularly well for product photos with a plain white background. After processing, the background is removed and the subject of the image remains, usually saved as a transparent PNG so it looks great on any page background.
Everything happens inside your WordPress dashboard. Your visitors never see or notice anything.
What do you need?
- WordPress 6.0 or newer
- Administrator access to your WordPress site
- A Twize licence, required on a live site. Your licence handles billing and credits. You receive your licence code when you purchase a plan.
Installing the plugin
- Make sure the plugin is placed in your WordPress plugins folder. Your developer will usually handle this.
- Go to Plugins in your WordPress dashboard.
- Find Twize | Background Remover in the list and click Activate.
That’s it, the plugin is now active and ready to set up.
First-time setup
Before you start removing backgrounds, you need to enter your licence and choose a few basic settings.
- Go to Settings → Twize Background Remover in your WordPress dashboard.
- Enter your licence key (you received this from Twize when you signed up).
- Click Verify licence to confirm it’s valid. This also loads your plan details and available credits.
Once your licence is verified, choose your preferences:
- Keep original, We strongly recommend turning this on. It saves a copy of the original image so you can restore it later if needed.
- Batch size, How many images to process at once. Leave this at the default unless you’re working with very large numbers of images.
- Background processing, For large batches, this lets the plugin work in the background instead of keeping your browser open the whole time.
- Upload automation, Choose what happens when you upload a new image. Note: enabling automatic removal on every upload will use a credit each time.
- Default output mode, Choose whether the processed image replaces the original or is saved as a new file alongside it.
Removing backgrounds
Removing backgrounds from multiple images at once
- Go to Media → Library.
- Select the images you want to process.
- Choose the background removal option from the bulk actions menu.
- A progress indicator will appear so you can see it working.
Removing the background from a single image
- Go to Media → Library and click on the image you want to edit.
- In the sidebar, find the Twize Background Remover panel.
- Click Remove background.
- If you kept the original, you can also click Restore to go back to the original image at any time.
What do the labels on images mean?
The plugin automatically scans the edges of your images to check whether a white background is present, without using any credits. Based on that scan, it adds a label to each image:
- Recommended, The image likely has a white background. Removing it will probably be useful.
- Maybe, The image might have a white background. Worth checking manually.
- Not needed, The image doesn’t appear to have a white background that needs removing.
These labels are a guide to help you work faster in bulk. They don’t remove anything automatically unless you’ve set up upload automation to do so.
Credits
Each background removal uses one credit. You can see your remaining credits at any time in Settings → Twize Background Remover.
Credits refresh at the start of each month. If you need more before then, you can upgrade your plan at any time, no long-term commitment required.
If you use upload automation with automatic removal enabled, credits are used each time a new image is uploaded. Keep this in mind if you upload images frequently.
Troubleshooting
Check that the plugin folder has been placed correctly by your developer and try refreshing the page. If it still doesn’t appear, contact your developer or get in touch with us.
Double-check that you’ve copied the licence key exactly as provided, then click Verify licence again. If the problem continues, contact our support team.
Try clearing your browser cache or opening the page in a different browser. If the issue continues, get in touch with us.
Results depend on the image. High-contrast images with a clear white background tend to give the best results. If you kept the original, you can restore it and try again.
Contact us via the support page and describe what you’re seeing. The more detail you can give us, the faster we can help.
